ABSTRACT

DECONSTRUCTING EROS IN THE AGE OF DIGITAL CONSUMPTION

Positioning ourselves at the intersection between the materialization of the idea of love, proposed by the new materialism and transhumanism, and the changes in the manifestations of love, induced / brought forward by social media platforms, this essay analyzes the hypostases of contemporary love, at the same time carrying out a deconstruction (in the proposed sense by Jacques Derrida) of the traditional concept of Eros. The essay aims to address a fundamental question related to a possible future of the notion of eros in a digitized space, where the rules of the game are changing: where does Eros remain in the digital age, caught between contemporary materialism and the algorithms of social platforms? Is this the beginning of the end of a myth of eternal love, or is it just the end of a simulation that can easily cross from erotic to digital?

Keywords: digital, eros, deconstruction, materialism, love.
